Terms of service

Last updated 25 October 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and yafla Inc. ("we") for using Chess Report. By signing in or ordering a report, you agree to them. Our privacy policy says how we handle your information.

The service

Chess Report analyses games from chess.com and lichess with the Stockfish chess engine, and writes a report on the patterns in them. Reports are for your own learning and interest. Their findings are statistical: they describe what the games show, they can be wrong, and they're no promise of better results.

Your account

You sign in with your Google account. Keep it secure, since anyone who can sign in as you can order reports on your account and see your reports.

Ordering and paying

  • Prices are before tax. If you live in Canada, GST or HST is added at checkout at the rate where you live (our GST/HST number is 834733248 RT 0001); if you live elsewhere, no Canadian tax is added. You tell us where you live when you order. Stripe takes the payment.
  • Each payment buys report credits: one, or several in a pack. A report of up to 100 games uses one credit, a report of 200 games two, and a report of 400 games three. If the player turns out to have fewer games than you asked for, the report uses what the games found would, and the rest come back to your account.
  • Your reports stay on the site for 180 days after they're made, and then we delete them. Save a copy of a report to keep it longer.
  • If we can't make a report (for example, if the player has no games in the time control you chose), the credits it used come back to your account for your next report.
  • If something goes wrong with a report you paid for, write to us and we'll put it right, by making the report again or refunding you.
  • Credits have no cash value and can't be transferred. If we close the service, or close your account through no fault of yours, we'll refund the credits you paid for and haven't used.
  • Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under consumer protection law.

Inviting friends

  • Once you've signed in, you have an invitation link of your own, under Invite friends. When someone opens it, makes an account within 60 days, and buys reports for the first time, that purchase comes with an extra report for them, and you get a free report too.
  • The free reports are report credits, with no cash value. You can earn up to 20 a year by inviting friends.
  • Only new accounts count, and inviting yourself doesn't. Share your link where it's welcome, not as spam. We may take back credits earned by breaking these rules, and we may change or end invitations; credits already earned fairly stay yours.

Reports on other players

You can order a report on any public chess.com or lichess account, including your opponents'. Use them fairly:

  • Don't use the site or its reports to harass anyone.
  • A report may point out games where an opponent's moves closely matched the engine's. That's a statistical signal, not proof of cheating. Don't publish it as an accusation. If you suspect cheating, report it to chess.com or lichess, which have the full evidence and the means to judge.

Using the site

Don't try to get into accounts or reports that aren't yours, interfere with the site or overload it, order reports or copy the site by automated means, or resell reports without our permission.

Your reports

Your reports are yours to keep, print and share as you like. The site, its design and its software remain ours.

Other sites

Chess Report isn't affiliated with or endorsed by chess.com, lichess or Google. Games come from chess.com's and lichess's public archives, so whether we can fetch them depends on those sites.

Availability and changes

We work to keep the site running and the reports right, but we can't promise it will always be available or free of errors. We may change or remove features. When we change these terms, we'll update the date at the top. The terms in force when you order a report apply to that report.

Ending

You can stop using the site at any time, and ask us to delete your account. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms.

Liability

The site and its reports are provided as they are. As far as the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
